About the role

Mater Engineering and Maintenance currently has an opportunity for a Fitter to join the team in a permanent position working a 9 day fortnight.

The successful candidate will carry out repairs and maintenance tasks to Mater facilities.  You will be responsible for ensuring that customer needs are met whilst performing work in a timely, cost effective manner to the prescribed quality standards.

Salary range: $43.36 - $46 (maintenance services 4/5) per hour 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Repairs and Maintenance to all Mechanical Plant and Equipment including Steam Plant.
  • Ensure repairs are conducted according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Participate in the process of ordering and maintaining stock levels as required.
  • Effective communication with internal and External Stakeholders
  • Ensure that all work done on a daily basis is completed in a timely and cost effective manner and the appropriate documentation is completed
  • Participate in a rotating weekly on call roster as required
  • Comply with all authorised duties as directed by the Water and Mechanical Services Manager or Fitters Trade Coordinator
  • Record accurate data on all work completed utilising the systems provided
  • Comply with Mater’s safe work systems

About you

Experience and Qualifications in the following areas are required:

  • Certificate 3 Engineering, Fitting & Turning/Machinist.
  • Experience with manual Lathe and manual Milling machine.
  • Boiler Ticket desirable.
  • Restricted Electrical Licence desirable.
  • A current “C” Class Motor Driver’s Licence.
  • An understanding of Occupational, Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation and Regulations pertaining to engineering.
  • Health care experience desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance
  • Welding experience in MIG, TIG, STICK with Stainless Steel, Mild Steel and Aluminium, Silver Solder with Copper/Brass.
