About the role

Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, together with Mater Hospital South Brisbane Physiotherapy Team is currently seeking an experienced Administration/Physiotherapy Assistant to join their team on a permanent, part-time basis working 24 hours per week.

The Physiotherapy department at Mater Health provides a broad range of public and private health services with adults, women’s health, neonatology, children and adolescent services. This combined Administration and Assistant role consists of approximately 80% administrative and non-clinical responsibilities and 20% clinical work, with a primary focus on supporting the Mater Mothers and Pelvic Health team.

Salary range: $34.02 - $35.66 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Administrative & Non-Clinical Duties

  • Utilize various software programs to extract, input, and manage data.
  • Handle phone and email correspondence with patients.
  • Manage stock orders, including clinical equipment, supplies, and consumables.
  • Oversee daily timetables and group class schedules.
  • Coordinate with administrative teams across multiple departments.
  • Ensure the cleaning, restocking, and maintenance of physiotherapy equipment.
  • Set up and pack down equipment for group classes.
  • Maintain clinical resources and patient education materials.

Clinical Duties

  • Facilitate Telehealth group education classes.
  • Distribute educational materials to patients on the wards.
  • Manage patient caseloads, conducting assessments and treatments as delegated.
  • Document session outcomes, track changes in patient status, and provide feedback to the supervising practitioner.
  • Assist with patient care, including therapy programs and education.
  • Prepare and maintain therapy rooms, equipment, resources, and assistive devices.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical services and patient outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to refine clinical skills and knowledge.

About you

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with professionals, patients and carers
  • Proficient in computer and digital literacy
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role and ability to work autonomously
  • Certificate IV or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance preferred
