About the role

Mater Research are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join the team! This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Seeking a dedicated individual to support Mater Research's financial sustainability by providing crucial financial information, insights and guidance to the Finance Manager and Executive Team, collaborating closely with the Finance team and offering accounting services to business units within Mater Research and Mater Group.

  • Understand and analyse business drivers and financial performance for Mater Research and the medical research sector
  • Identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and financial risks
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to review financial performance and develop interventions
  • Use tools like Power BI to analyse trends and financial impacts
  • Assist with business case development and capital expenditure processes
  • Reconcile grants and projects, support finance best practices, and build financial literacy
  • Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts for Mater Research
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensure ledger integrity
  • Provide D365 training, triage business requests, assist with process improvement
  • Support management and development of Assistant Accountant

About you

The ideal candidate will have a minimum three years of relevant experience in health, research, or a similar sector.

  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach with strong time management skills
  • Proficient in Australian Accounting Standards and strategic decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships, meet deadlines, and problem-solve
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Skilled in budgeting, reporting, and cash flow management using intelligent tools
  • Familiarity with financial issues in the health research sector, desired
  • Experience in post-award financial management of research funding, desired
