Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Director of Clinical Services to join us in a permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) has responsibility for the clinical leadership and management of the hospital encompassing both public and private services, upholding Mater’s Mission, Vision and Values, and in aligning the strategic plans and goals to Mater Health and the Mater strategic plan.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Be part of a once in a generation opportunity to help open, commission and deliver services for a brand new public hospital.
- Drive delivery of high-quality clinical services, ensuring strong governance, outcomes and alignment with evidence-based best practice.
- Lead the development and implementation of clinical standards and support continuous service improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate with education and research teams to embed learning into clinical service delivery.
- Champion patient access and flow, ensuring positive outcomes and consumer experiences through cross-functional teamwork.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with patients, communities, universities, professional bodies, and government stakeholders.
- Manage operational and financial performance, including budgets, resources, reporting, and project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate clinical and operational risks, ensuring compliance with WHS and regulatory standards.
- Role-model inter-professional leadership, fostering alignment across teams and strategic plans.
- Provide clear leadership to direct reports, setting expectations, delivering feedback, and ensuring accountability.
- Promote a values-led culture that embraces inclusion, professional growth, and purpose-driven work.
About you
You will have relevant registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and at least 5 years post-basic or post-graduate nursing experience & minimum 1 years’ experience as Nurse Unit Manager or Higher. You will also meet the below criteria:
- Proven experience managing large health provision organisations
- Experienced in leading multidisciplinary workforces and acute care facilities
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines
- Strong commitment to Mater's Mission, Vision, and Values
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and achieve cultural alignment
