About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse to join our Stomal Therapy Service on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Clinical Nurse – Stomal Therapy provides integral care to patients across Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Mothers’ Hospital who are living with stomas and complex wounds. This position is central to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care—supporting both patients and clinical staff through education, expert advice, and coordination of care.

Salary range: $54.45 - $$58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this rewarding clinical leadership role, you will:
- Provide specialist stomal therapy and complex wound management for inpatients and outpatients.
- Deliver direct patient care, assessment, and education to patients and their families, empowering them in their care journey.
- Offer expert advice, support, and education to nursing and medical staff across Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Mothers’ Hospital.
- Coordinate nursing activities to ensure continuity of care and excellence in clinical outcomes.
- Promote and uphold Mater’s standards of safety, quality, and clinical governance through evidence-based practice.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development by mentoring colleagues and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
About you
You are a compassionate and skilled nurse who takes pride in delivering patient-centred care and supporting others to do the same. You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- A minimum of five years’ experience in an adult hospital setting.
- Postgraduate qualification in Stomal Therapy (or currently working towards completion).
- Demonstrated expertise in wound care and stomal management.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
