About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville are currently seeking a Physiotherapist to join our Allied Health team on a casual basis, with opportunity for weekday or weekend shifts available.

Salary range: $43.68 - $58.59 per hour plus 25% Casual Loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Typical tasks of the role include: 

  • Undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols at Mater Townsville Physiotherapy Department
  • Mater Physiotherapy department service acute wards (intensive care, cardiac units, medical, surgical, orthopaedic, renal and mater mothers). Rehabilitation services include day and overnight programs.
  • Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
  • Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies 
  • Opportunity to participate in continuing professional development activities to further develop clinical practice and expertise

About you

You will be a AHPRA registered Physiotherapist as recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Council. You will also meet the below criteria: 

  • Broad experience working in an acute hospital setting and across rehabilitation services- desired. Note: New graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number 
  • A demonstrated ability to provide exceptional Physiotherapy clinical services commensurate with level, and to manage a varying caseload day to day, including provision of an appropriate clinical handover as required 
  • Demonstrated attributes of solutions focus, flexibility and resilience 
  • Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care 
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with professional and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
