About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Outpatient Department of Urology in a maximum-term, full-time position working 3 days per week until November 2026.
The Urology Department is a dynamic unit with a focus on innovative practice and continuous improvement. The Urology team provides care to locally referred patients and through the Outreach model provides care to patients in the Wide Bay region.
Based at our South Brisbane campus, this position involves coordination of Urology patients through nursing phone assessments, direct face to face outpatient assessment, clinical interventions, the provision of education and clinical support to ward staff and liaison with patients, GPs and Urology Consultants.
This role will see you demonstrate your commitment to providing quality clinical care whilst providing case management support to patients. This is a rewarding opportunity for an accomplished Registered Nurse to gain further experience in a challenging and varied role which will develop your clinical management skills in Urology, providing dedicated support to a complex patient group within an ever-progressing team.
Salary range: $41.73 - $54.54 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing comprehensive patient Urology phone & preadmission assessments to patients living in remote areas
- Liaising with Urology Consultants and escalating patient concerns when required
- Ensuring that patients are optimised for care when scheduled for theatre.
- Provide education and support to patients and ward staff.
- Providing clinical support to Mater Brisbane
- Participating in regular professional development team meetings
- Managing relationships and liaising effectively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal health care
- Effectively managing / identifying risk, reporting patient complaints and implementing strategies to ensure that quality is integrated into service provision.
- Contribute to planning and evaluation processes at the Department of Urology
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- High levels of communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal patient outcomes
- Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse (no restrictions)
- At least 3 years surgical/urological nursing experience
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
- Exceptional organisational and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and staff members
- Ability to contribute to departmental research activities
