About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an Administration Officer to join our Referral Management Centre on a casual basis at our South Brisbane campus. Working Monday to Friday across a rotating roster between 7:00am and 6:00pm, you'll play an important role in supporting the entry point to Mater's outpatient services.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team that helps ensure referrals are processed accurately and efficiently, enabling patients to access the care they need without unnecessary delays. The role aligns with Mater's focus on delivering exceptional administrative support, operational efficiency and outstanding patient experiences.

Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You'll provide high-quality administrative support to ensure referrals are processed efficiently and outpatient services continue to operate effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receive, review and process outpatient referrals within required timeframes
  • Accurately enter referral information into clinical information systems
  • Coordinate appointment bookings and support clinic scheduling
  • Prepare, scan and maintain electronic patient documentation and records
  • Respond to enquiries from patients, clinicians and internal stakeholders
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing correspondence and general administrative tasks
  • Work collaboratively with the Referral Management team to meet service KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to timely referral management to minimise delays to patient care and support growing referral pathways

About you

You're a proactive and customer-focused administrator who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. You will bring:

  • Previous administration experience, ideally within a healthcare or hospital environment
  • Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills and a commitment to accuracy
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn healthcare information systems
  • A patient-centred approach with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, use initiative and adapt positively to change
