Mater Research is a world class clinical research centre, at the forefront of translating research outcomes into new therapeutic options to address unmet medical needs.  Mater Research has a new opportunity for a Gynaecological Oncology Research Nurse to join the team at our South Brisbane Campus. This is a 4 day per week position on annual contract, with possibility for extension subject to research funding.

Working with a team of surgeons, oncologists and clinical research staff, you will be responsible for start-up and day to day management and performance of clinical research studies in Gynaecological Oncology.

The Gynaecological Oncology Research Nurse’s role encompasses the following duties:

  • Implementation and day to day management of clinical research projects in close collaboration with clinical staff and study investigators
  • Development of mechanisms which support patient recruitment rate to clinical studies
  • Assist in the development of data collection systems and organise and manage data collection in accordance with regulatory standards and project timelines
  • Develop a strong working relationship with Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators to ensure effective and timely implementation of clinical research
  • Establish and maintain high quality relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducting clinical research ensuring consistency, protocol compliance and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and all applicable regulatory requirements and institutional policies
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of issues associated with the conduct of clinical research  
  • Ensure compliance with Human Research Ethics committee reporting obligations
  • Work with Principal Investigators and Co-investigators to promote collaboration with Mater Education and Mater Health that fosters an environment that encourages the translation of research outcomes into clinical practice

The qualifications and attributes that will facilitate your success in this role are:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration and relevant clinical nursing experience
  • Prior clinical research experience
  • Desirable: ADAC Chemotherapy Competency; RAVE EDC Essentials for Clinical Research Coordinators or equivalent; Qualification in handling dangerous goods
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills necessary for working effectively with a diverse range of staff, patients and other stakeholders
  • Knowledge of data management systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical conduct in research involving humans
  • Ability to conduct clinical research to ensure consistency and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Project management skills

Salary: Mater Research Salary Scales Level 7 $82,215 p.a. - $89,922 p.a.
