About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane requires the expertise of a General Practitioner with added skills in Breast Medicine for a permanent part-time (14.5 hours per fortnight) role in the GP Breast Surgery Unit within the Division of Surgery. Mater has been providing compassionate healthcare services to Queenslanders for more than 100 years. Now comprising a group of world class private hospitals, including three which also provide public health services, Mater employs more than 6500 staff and provides care to some 500 000 people every year.

Mater Hospital Brisbane provides public health services and is jointly funded by Queensland Health grants and revenue generated by Mater Private Hospitals. The Breast Unit provides a specialist service for women diagnosed with breast cancer and consists of: 5 Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeons Fellow in Breast and Endocrine Surgery GP Breast Specialist 2 Advanced Practice Breast Care Nurses Surgical Registrar, Fellow and Junior

Medical Officer Salary: Commensurate with experience

What you’ll be doing

As a GP in the unit, you will be responsible for the clinical follow-up care of patients in an outpatient setting, participating in the assessment and planning of on-going follow-up care, including survivorship. You will be supported by the Breast and Endocrine surgeons, and encouraged to attend multidisciplinary meetings.

About you

Suitable applicants for this role must:

  • Hold general or specialist registration as a General Practitioner with AHPRA
  • Have considerable experience in womens health adn/or survivorship
  • Be eligible for a GP provider number under the HIC (ie. hold FRACGP and/ or FACRRM OR be on the VR register OR be eligible for a non-VR provider number NOT subject to the requirements of the District of Workforce Shortage)

In addition, you will demonstrate your ability to commit to the Mater Mission and values, along with a high level of professionalism, communication, negotiation and conciliation skills.

Further, your efficient organisational and time management skills, coupled with your exceptional interpersonal skills for directing and supervising junior medical staff plus liaising with nursing and medical staff, are critical.
