About the role

Mater People and Learning currently have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team. Offered as full time and fixed term (12 months with potential for extension) you will be based at ourNewstead campus.

You will provide technical expertise in the execution of secondary/tertiary payroll services and general ledger reconciliations. You will also manage enquiries requiring research and analysis.

Salary range: $45.18-$49.16 (MCA5) per hour plus superannuation.

What you’ll be doing

In this fast paced role you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Fortnightly payroll
  • Check all termination payments and recommend for payment
  • Verify all back-pay calculations
  • Verify all Tier Two services are made according to agreed timeframes
  • Provide backup to payroll team leader on management of the full payroll service
  • Payroll Clearing accounts reconciled with Finance
  • Undertake payroll process (process EFT, GL, deductions, pay advices and pay close).
  • Prepare pay-run reconciliation for approval by Manager, Payroll Services.
  • Monthly and ad-hoc payroll tasks
  • Prepare and run full monthly and Executive payroll
  • Assist in Financial / General Ledger / Payroll Reconciliations
  • Prepare ATO and ABS reporting for authorisation by Payroll Services Manager
  • Provide backup to payroll team leader on management of the full payroll service
  • Assist in the testing of new initiatives for payroll as directed
  • Undertake audit reporting and corrections as directed
  • Calculate and manage recovery of overpayments.
  • Conduct EOM processes per timetable advised by Finance
  • Prepare reconciliations each month, EFT/cheque requisitions for superannuation
  • Maintain Customer Service via telephone and email enquiries

As the Senior Payroll Officer in the team you will have further responsibility to train, coach and role model to payroll staff.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated success in a similar role in a large and complex organisation coupled with experience. Familiarity with Aurion would be advantageous to your application.
