About the role

Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) is currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join the team at South Brisbane.

In this role, you will be working in the Public Clinic at MCCC, helping with Haematology, Oncology and Palliative Care clinics and patient flow, general administrative tasks, preparing patients for appointments, retrieving medical results, etc. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday.

MCCC aims to offer all patients, regardless of their level of health insurance cover, access to a modern state-of-the-art facility that provides comprehensive and compassionate care that is individually personalised. The Cancer centre includes consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy. 

Salary range: $37.23 - $47.84 (RN1) per hour plus superannuation and generous salary packaging

Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout their disease trajectory
  • Ensuring clinical documentation is prepared and provided to the specialist doctors as required
  • General administrative tasks as directed including setting up/packing up rooms, checking equipment, collecting and organising paperwork, etc.
  • Facilitation of the public clinic, including completing patient assessments, answering phone enquiries, following up on tests
  • Clinical management of unwell patients in the clinic area
  • Provide patient education in line with current scope of practice
  • Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Supporting the Manager of MCCC in the review of service provided

About you

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • 2 years’ experience in a haematology/oncology role
  • Experience in CVAD/Blood sampling desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and share knowledge with less-experienced staff
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation skills

While not essential, applicants who currently have or are studying towards a tertiary qualification within this clinical speciality would be highly regarded.
