About the role

The Mater Advanced Epilepsy Service is currently seeking a permanent part-time Clinical Neuropsychologist, working ideally 3 days per week to support the department.  

Mater’s Advanced Epilepsy Service provides highly specialised clinical services to epilepsy patients in order to determine their suitability for surgical intervention as well as ongoing assessment and intervention to patients who have undergone surgery. This is a multidisciplinary care model comprising Neurology, Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology and Speech Pathology.

Salary range: $54.93 - $59.09 per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Neuropsychologist within the Psychology team, you will deliver high level clinical assessments for the Advanced Epilepsy Service, provide leadership and mentorship within the department in your area of clinical expertise and lead quality improvements to continuously improve and support patient centred, evidence based care.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity you will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Delivery of assessment and intervention to patients with complex medical conditions within an acute hospital setting
  • Demonstrated high level clinical practice and independent clinical judgement in the delivery of Neuropsychology services
  • Proven experience and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, establish priorities, exercise initiative and deliver outputs within agreed timeframes
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision making and address conflict with profession and multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers, and other stakeholders
  • Evidence of clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision within a psychology team
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and evaluate quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Postgraduate Qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology  
  • Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA and an area of Endorsed Practice in Clinical Neuropsychology or eligibility to undertake the Clinical Neuropsychology registrar program.
  • Experience in the neuropsychological assessment of patients with complex medical conditions
