About the role

Mater Private Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, qualified and professional Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Unit / Cath Lab team.  This is a permanent full time (38 hours per week) position working Monday to Friday within the CVU/Cath Lab business hours, and the participation in the emergency STEMI  on call team as rostered.

Joining a growing outstanding clinical team, the Mater Private Hospital Cardiac Service is an outstanding addition to Mater’s already impressive list of clinical innovations. The Cardiac Service offers cardiovascular services to both public and private patients across our combined Cardiology Ward / Coronary Care Unit and Cardiovascular Procedural Unit. 

You will be joining a busy department that is led by a passionate and innovative Nursing Manager who strongly encourages professional development. The Medical and Nursing staff are specially trained in the care of cardiology, vascular, interventional radiology and pain management patients, and provide exceptional care to ensure our patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

Salary range: $36.32 -$46.67 (Registered Nurse Level 1) per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing

Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking Coronary Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Cerebral Aneurysm Coil Embolisation, Percutaneous Vascular Intervention, and Cardiac Electrophysiology procedures in Scout, Scrub and Monitor capacity.
  • Delivery of exceptional patient care, demonstrating a level of skill in clinical decision making and hands-on care
  • Deliver appropriate and accurate application of clinical assessment procedures to evaluate medical health status to identify and apply timely care intervention for best patient outcomes
  • Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Working with and supporting colleagues within a highly effective skilled team environment
  • Demonstrating a capacity to adapt to innovative models of care and service provision

About you

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a RN (no restrictions)
  • Previous experience in cardiac Cath Lab essential
  • Considerable demonstrated experience in an interventional cardiology/radiology environment  
  • Proven clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing care
  • Effective communication and clinical problem solving skills to maximise patient care outcomes
  • Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
  • Ability to be available for occasional on-call or overtime dependent on procedural list requirements
