Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has been supporting the health of people living in and around Rockhampton for more than a century. Our heritage-listed Kenmore building was purchased by the Sisters of Mercy in 1915 and opened as the first Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Central Queensland on 14 November.

Today, our 136-bed facility features five operating theatres, a private emergency service and a wide range of specialised clinical services.

About the Role

The Payroll Advisor's role aims to provide the effective provision of payroll services to the organisation’s management and employees and other organisations that contract such services in a bureau capacity.   These services shall be conducted to support the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives.  The Payroll Advisor will ensure that all practices are by legislative requirements, organisational policies, and delegations.

Wage: $32.41 - $33.71 p/h depending on experience.

About You


  • Experience in an administration role, preferably within a payroll setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements and legislative interpretation or the ability to quickly acquire.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment and autonomously when required.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.


  • Previous experience within Health and Aged Care environments.
  • Knowledge of electronic payroll systems and applications such as Aurion and KRONOS would be advantageous.
