About the Role:

Mater is committed to creating an organisational culture that values safety, identifies system vulnerabilities, and integrates risk, quality and safety functions and activities.  The Quality and Safety Associate is responsible for activities as delegated relating to Quality and Clinical Safety Management and accreditation across the hospital/service, which are essential to the licensing, service level agreements and contracts.

Candidates must have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in health service delivery with appropriate clinical knowledge, experience, and skills is essential, including a basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the hospital;
  • Experience in health care accreditation and regulatory requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives and their practical application in the achievement of customer service/ delivery needs;
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced analytical skills to trend and interpret data and provide reports on data/information used for projects, evaluation and process improvement activities; and
  • Demonstrated experience in developing working relationships to achieve identified outcomes and an ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and issues regarding patient safety;
  • Developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated communication, consultation, facilitation and negotiation skills, including report writing and presentation skills, including experience in the use of computer software (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint); and
  • Ability to effectively lead and implement change in a complex environment.

Desirable:

  • A clinical background with at least five years of front-line experience; and
  • Intermediate or advanced skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
