Mater is currently seeking a Purchasing Officer to join our Procurement and Supply Chain Operations team on a max term contract covering parental leave (11 months) full time basis., based at South Brisbane. Please note this position is to start in January 2025.

Salary range: $36.51 - $40.81 (MCA3) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinate purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to process requirements.
  • Support issue resolution, update and track purchase orders through Mater's system, providing necessary reports.
  • Coordinate approvals and liaise with stakeholders for timely payment.
  • Ensure compliance with Mater system requirements, provide feedback and support ongoing improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for seamless service delivery and timely goods/services delivery.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and a collaborative approach in supply chain operations.
  • Contribute to team development activities and support the transition to a centralised delivery model.
  • Actively participate in improving inventory service standards and sharing knowledge within the team.

About you

Ideally you will have a Diploma in Purchasing or equivalent is desirable, but not essential. You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience of working within purchasing, preferably in a large, complex organisation.
  • Prior experience working in purchasing in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of a purchasing platform/s is essential.
  • Demonstrated IT skills including the MS Office suite.
  • Sound knowledge of the end-to-end procurement and purchasing process is desirable.
  • Demonstrate initiative and be proactive in monitoring, distributing and communicating issues related to inventory and stock control.
  • Must have an outcomes orientation and understanding of key performance standards of the role.
  • Able to be organised in a dynamic operating environment, with the ability work as part of a team and independently as required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate outcomes to deliver client expectations.
