About the role
Mater Hospital Townsville Perioperative Department are searching for an experienced Perioperative Clinical Nurse to work within our scrub/scout team. The position is based at our Pimlico campus working predominantly within our Cardiothoracic theatre. This will be offered as a permanent full-time opportunity working 38 hours a week. Flexibility is required as you will be required to fulfil all components of a rotating roster including weekends and on-call.
The Perioperative Services department at Mater Private Hospital Townsville (MPHT) provides surgical services across 16 theatres and caters for adults and pediatrics with a variety of surgical specialties. MPHT boasts brand new state of the art theatre facilities, a catheterization laboratory, separate onsite day site surgery facilities as well as newly implemented robotic surgery involving the da Vinci Surgical System.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Our Perioperative Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team. You will use your extensive experience to provide a mentorship and guiding aspect to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development.
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision, along with staffing within budget requirements
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
About you
- Current AHPRA registration as RN
- Experience working with Cardiothoracic patients
- Minimum of 3-5 years Scrub-Scout experience
- Strong knowledge of ACORN and NSQHS Standards
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater Values
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
