About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has Fixed Term positions available for experienced Clinical Nurses within a range of ward settings, including our Medical, Surgical and Rehabilitation services. A variety of employment options are available, including part time and full time positions. Fixed Term relief period 17/03/2025 – 21/09/2025.
As a Clinical Nurse, you will be providing expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for patients with a variety of conditions and support the general function of the unit through role modelling and application of the principles of contemporary evidence based consumer/patient focused care, education, leadership and portfolio management. In addition, this role will provide support and direction to the Registered Nurse and other non-registered nursing personnel in more complex situations.

Located within the medical precinct on Bourbong Street, our hospital is a 59-bed facility featuring four operating theatres, a fully equipped day surgery unit, and a wide range of specialist clinical services.
Salary range: $54.44 – $58.30 (RN Lvl 2) plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse (“CN”) position provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. The CN will integrate organisational policies and guidelines with professional standards by maintaining current knowledge and participating in relevant policy review.
This role works autonomously within the relevant healthcare team's speciality and structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering specialist nursing care. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports management activities, including portfolio responsibilities.

A successful applicant will have the ability to work well with others and share portfolios to ensure optimal patient outcomes, strong leadership and support the Hospitals model of care.
To be considered for the role you must have:
Essential
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) & hold a current licence to practice as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in one or more of the designated inpatient areas;
- Digital and computer proficiency, extending to Microsoft 365 applications
- Advanced level clinical and problem-solving skills
- Planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of patient care and discharge planning
- Ability to work within a collegiate healthcare team structure
Desired
- Current Advanced Life Support certification
- Tertiary qualifications in a health or management discipline;
- Rehabilitation experience/ Functional Independence Measure (FIM) Training and Certificate desirable
