About the role

Mater Education is looking for Educators to join the team in this permanent, full-time or permanent, part-time (22.8hrs per week) opportunity! Supporting our Diploma of Nursing, this role is based at the Mater Hospital – South Brisbane campus.

As our new Educator you will deliver and assess education and training within the Registered Training Organisation. You will be responsible for student management and accountable for ensuring excellence in educational outcomes for students and employers within the organisation aligned to our mission and values.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

You will support students within the simulated labs and workplace and online learning environments with a focus on student engagement, progression and success.

  • Utilise flexible, blended and inclusive learning techniques, options and products which are responsive to various student cohorts, including commencing students and those with priority needs
  • Learn how to design, develop, implement and evaluate teaching and learning resources, assessment tools and processes that meet industry skills standards (i.e., endorsed components from National Training Packages)
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality of training and assessment provided to students
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, client groups and staff by participating in team meetings, student events and forums, inviting feedback and engaging in reflection
  • Ensure that students adopt, and practise accepted safety procedures and sustainability in the learning and assessment environment
  • Contribute to planning, design, development, implementation and review of educational programs
  • Participate in relevant professional learning activities to develop and maintain currency of personal and professional skills, knowledge and attitudes for both industry and learning, teaching and assessment
  • Undertake general administration duties including marking, monitoring of student attendance and progression, facilitating access to educational support and providing effective feedback and advice
  • Student management within portfolio

About you

To be considered for this role, successful applicants will have:

  • Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Valid Working with Children Card (BlueCard)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (current – 2016 onwards)
  • Higher-level qualification in adult education, Post graduate qualifications in specialty area or minimum of 3 years’ experience in the relevant industry, desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and experience working within an RTO environment 
  • Detailed understanding of the relevant profession and accreditation requirements
  • Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in the student environment
  • Enthusiastic and engaging individual who is highly knowledgeable in the relevant industry
  • Strong adherence and acknowledgment of Policies and Procedures and industry requirements
  • Ability to work well with peer educators and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel to other locations if needed (South Brisbane, Springfield and Newstead)
