Mater Health is seeking applications for an experienced Director - Clinical Education to join the team! Reporting to the Executive Director – Mater Hospitals, this permanent, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

The Director of Operational Education provides effective leadership to Mater Education’s integrated clinical education team, ensuring the development and delivery of consistent, standardised, best-practice, contemporary, evidence-based education and training across Mater’s healthcare services in Queensland.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

 What you’ll be doing

As a senior leader within Mater Health, you will drive excellence in clinical education across Queensland, ensuring consistency, innovation, and evidence-based practice in all learning and development programs.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and inspire Mater integrated clinical education team to deliver high-quality, contemporary, evidence based education and training.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to plan, implement and review strategic and operational priorities for clinical education across Mater.
  • Build a strong culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence and professional growth within education teams.
  • Foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including accreditation and professional bodies, to ensure educational needs are met.
  • Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of clinical education programs that support health service accreditation and regulatory compliance.
  • Use data and analytics to inform evidence based recommendations for clinical learning and workforce development.
  • Lead service delivery to ensure safe, reliable, high quality healthcare outcomes and exceptional learner experiences.
  • Manage operational budgets, resources and compliance frameworks to achieve strong financial and governance outcomes.
  • Drive strategic and cultural change, embedding interprofessional collaboration and innovative education practices across disciplines.
  • Build accountability and performance within teams, aligning outcomes with Mater’s values, strategy and commitment to excellence.

About you

You are an inspiring and collaborative leader who thrives in dynamic, multi-disciplinary healthcare and education environments. You will also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in healthcare, education, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
  • Proven experience leading large, diverse teams in clinical education or healthcare service delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships across organisations.
  • High level analytical, strategic and change management capability with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership and coaching skills, with a passion for developing people and advancing clinical education standards.
