About the role
Mater Food Services currently has several positions available for Operational Officers – Room Service Representatives. These positions are required to work on a 7-day roster so the availability to be rostered Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 05:30 hours – 19:30 hours is essential.
Salary range: $32.02 – 34.16 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As an Operational Officer you will be responsible for accurately taking patient orders over the phone and ensuring all necessary details are recorded in the operating system. You will follow phone courtesy standards, promote food and beverage options, and be knowledgeable about menu offerings and diet variations.
Your role will involve verifying meal eligibility, informing patients of procedures, providing bedside ordering for those unable to call, and using appropriate food terminology to enhance the dining experience for patients.
Additionally, you will greet patients, respond quickly to changing requirements, and perform any other assigned duties to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

To be considered for this position you should have:
- Excellent customer service with the willingness to go above and beyond to exceed patient expectations.
- High level of communication skills including the ability to build rapport quickly with patients and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, problem solving and time management skills.
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values.
