About the role
Are you a dynamic midwifery leader ready to make a lasting impact? We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) – In Patient Unit and Midwifery Group Practice to lead and inspire high-performing teams across a variety of specialised units at our progressive healthcare facility. This role is permanent, full time.
Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually and birth 1,700 babies within the first year!
Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the MUM - In Patient Unit (combined Antenatal and Postnatal) and Midwifery Group Practice, you will play a pivotal role in clinical leadership, operational management and driving excellence in patient-centred care. You'll be supported by a collaborative leadership team and encouraged to lead innovation and continuous improvement in your new unit.
About you
You will have a minimum of five years full time experience in the relevant area as a Midwifery Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse or other leadership role:
- Current AHPRA Nursing registration with no restrictions
- Extensive leadership experience within a nursing unit in a complex hospital environment
- Post grad and/or leadership qualifications will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated competence in cost centre management
- High-level interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills with the ability to engage with internal stakeholders at various levels to achieve
- Experienced in opening a new ward is desirable
- Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
