About the role
Mater Research is seeking a motivated and skilled Research Officer to join the Cancer Immunotherapies Group at the Translational Research Institute in South Brisbane. This full-time, permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer immunology research focused on understanding human cDC1 dendritic cell and tumour interactions to enhance immune responses. Join a dynamic team led by Professor Kristen Radford and make a meaningful impact on innovative immunotherapeutic strategies.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will design, execute, and coordinate research studies investigating dendritic cell biology in cancer. Your role includes processing and analysing experimental data, developing new methodologies, and contributing to scientific publications and grant applications. You will also collaborate with colleagues and supervise junior staff and students to support the smooth operation of the laboratory environment.
About you
To be considered successful for this position you should have:
- A PhD in a relevant field such as immunology or cancer biology
- Proven experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., mRNA analysis, CRISPR screens, lentivirus transduction)
- Proficiency in bioinformatics and multi-omics data analysis pipelines
- Hands-on experience with primary human immune cell culture and immunological assays
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated through publications and presentations
- Ability to mentor junior staff and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Competency with digital tools including Microsoft Office, statistical software, EndNote, and NCBI resources
