Mater Private Hospital Springfield and Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Speech Pathologist to join our team in a permanent full-time or permanent part-time roles. Based at our Springfield campus, this is a career-defining opportunity in a dynamic, patient-focused environment. These roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening in the coming months. This state of the art facility, co-located with the existing Mater Private Hospital Springfield, will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region and is set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

The Speech Pathology department will service both public and private patients across a range of specialties in both facilities including ICU, medical, surgical, NICU, paediatrics, emergency, and outpatients.

Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a Speech Pathologist at Mater Health, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties. You’ll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care across a range of clinical areas.

You will contribute to the ongoing development of clinical services, participate in quality improvement activities, and engage in continuing professional development to ensure care is aligned with best practice and Mater’s mission and values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality speech pathology services for patients with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Managing an appropriate caseload using strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, patient-focused care
  • Participating in supervision, mentoring and clinical education of students
  • Contributing to research, service evaluation and continuous quality improvement activities
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and organisational policy
  • Promoting the role and value of speech pathology within the wider healthcare team

About you

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  • Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status (or working towards it)
  • Eligibility for a Medicare provider number
  • Strong clinical skills in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, carers and colleagues
  • A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to ongoing learning, quality improvement and reflective practice

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Flexibility to participate in weekend or on-call rosters as required
