Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Physiotherapy Assistant to join us in a Permanent full-time or part-time (15.2 hours per week) role Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy care under the guidance and delegation of a physiotherapist. You will play a key role in assisting with patient programs, treatments, and rehabilitation, ensuring a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for patients and the physiotherapy team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with exercises, rehabilitation programs, and group therapy sessions in line with delegated care plans.
- Preparing and maintaining therapy spaces, equipment, and assistive devices to ensure safety and availability.
- Supporting clinicians with documentation, patient education, and telehealth setup.
- Monitoring patient progress and providing feedback to the supervising physiotherapist.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of clinical resources.
- Providing guidance, training, and support to students and volunteers within the physiotherapy team.
- Engaging in professional development to build skills and maintain knowledge of best practice in allied health support.
About you
You’re a motivated and reliable Physiotherapy Assistant who enjoys working collaboratively within a healthcare team. You take pride in supporting patient care and contributing to a safe, efficient, and positive clinical environment.
You will bring:
- Experience in a similar role supporting allied health clinicians, ideally in hospital, sub-acute, community, or disability settings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work autonomously within a defined scope of practice and follow delegated instructions accurately.
- Good organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Sound computer literacy and confidence using digital tools to support patient care and clinical workflows.
Desirable:
- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent.
- Experience assisting with patient education, exercise programs, or rehabilitation sessions.
