Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Clinical Nurse Consultants to join us in  permanent, part time roles. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Acute Pain Service provides clinical leadership for the acute pain management service within Mater Springfield Hospital. This role ensures safe, evidence-based practice for patients with complex pain management needs, including post-operative, medical, obstetric population and trauma-related pain. The CNC collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care, develop clinical guidelines, educate staff, and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives. As a successful applicant, you will cultivate collaborative relationships with consumers, leaders and managers, colleagues, and the broader multidisciplinary team. Your work will align with the strategic direction, ensuring that our services are continuously improving and evolving to meet the changing healthcare landscape.

  • Provide clinical expertise in the ongoing review and implementation of advanced clinical practice by participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care to patients based on evidence and recognised practice standards
  • Demonstrate leadership which uses and facilitates evidence-based practice which is visionary, creative and innovative when considering contemporary neonatal issues in relation to service delivery, clinical practice and research; as well as informing the development, management and ongoing review of clinical processes
  • Actively contribute through the provision of expert clinical advice and effective specialty education programs that focus on improving the capability of nurses and teams to deliver safe quality care
  • Translate evidence into best practice, and to enhance collegial relationships within and outside the organisation

About you

Essential

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. 
  • Postgraduate qualification relevant to pain management. 
  • Demonstrated experience in acute pain management within an acute care setting. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice 
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation, outcome monitoring, and experienced in quality improvement. 
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with electronic medical records. 
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient-centred care. 

Desirable

  • Experience in perioperative nursing and/or pain management leadership.
