About the role
We are seeking a motivated, professional Oncology Pharmacist to join our Clinical Services team, in a full-time permanent position.
Mater Health Services, Southeast Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland caring for over 500,000 patients each year and we are looking forward to the expansion of our Springfield hospital in 2026.
Mater Pharmacy provides a clinical service to all inpatient & outpatient areas so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.
Salary range: $43.68 – $58.59 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will deliver high-quality pharmacy services that support the safe and effective use of medicines across Mater Health, especially for Cancer Care services at our Redland and South Brisbane campuses.
You will work closely with hospital staff and patients to deliver a consistently high level of clinical pharmacy service to hospital in-patients, chemotherapy day patients and out-patients. This will include supporting the Mater Cancer Care Centres which provide chemotherapy treatment and care for outpatients, as well as providing a clinical pharmacy service to public & private inpatient wards.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Screening and ordering chemotherapy from external and internal manufacturing facilities
Checking prepared medications prior to delivery to clinical areas and to patients
Compiling and documenting best possible medication history for hospital inpatients
Reconciliation and clinical review of prescribed medications
Managing supply of inpatient and discharge medications for hospital patients and some outpatients
Preparation of discharge medication and medication information
Medication education and counselling for patients and their carers
Liaison with external facilities and community health care providers to ensure continuity of care for individual patients
Providing medication related information, advice and support to the multidisciplinary team.
Working within a team of pharmacists, technicians and students providing supervision and assistance as required and contributing to improvement activities
You will have the opportunity to receiving training and also rotate between Mater Hospital Redland with day oncology care, and Mater Hospitals at South Brisbane campus which have both public and private inpatient areas including cancer care wards, and have the potential for training and work in our on-site cytotoxic and sterile production unit.
In all settings, you will provide customers, patients, carers and other health professionals with support and information relating to medication and uphold medication safety practices.
Our service to the hospitals is required 365 days per year so the role will include a share of evening, public holiday and weekend shifts as well as provision of an on-call service to all our facilities on a rostered basis.

In addition to clinical pharmacy services, we provide traditional community pharmacy medicines and retail products to patients, visitors and staff.
About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
Bachelor of Pharmacy
APHRA registration to practice as a Pharmacist (without restrictions)
Previous experience within a clinical / hospital oncology/haematology pharmacy setting
Other highly regarded attributes include:
Prior experience with CHARM oncology software
Prior demonstrated experience in ward-based clinical pharmacy
The flexibility to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and on-call (with training)
The ability to work at all Mater Hospital locations including Redland, South Brisbane, and Springfield
