About the role

Mater Children’s Private Brisbane (MCPB) has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse to join our Paediatric Ward in a permanent part time capacity (72 hours per fortnight).   

MCPB continues to provide Queensland families with access to leading paediatric doctors, nurses, and care providers, delivering care from admission through to discharge within a modern, stand-alone paediatric facility for families with private health insurance. MCPB comprises a dedicated 20-bed paediatric inpatient ward and a busy paediatric surgical day unit. We are a small but highly valued team, providing exceptional services to our paediatric clientele as part of our Mater strategy, Exceptional Every Time.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide expert clinical leadership in paediatric patient assessment and care planning
  • Demonstrate effective coordination of staff and utilisation of clinical resources to optimise service delivery
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager and Nurse Educator in the development and updating of unit policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Provide clinical guidance and team leadership to members of the clinical team and maintain consistent and collaborative implementation of quality improvement activities. This includes the management of a portfolio aligned with the NSQHS standards
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • During periods of low activity, you may be required to be redeployed elsewhere within the Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane campus

About you

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a paediatric ward environment
  • Post graduate qualifications in paediatrics or working towards
  • High level skills in problem-solving, communication, coordination and time management
  • Strong paediatric focus and passion for providing family centred care
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other health professionals, patients and relatives/carers
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
