About the role
Mater Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse – Diabetes Educator to join the Queensland Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (QDEC) at our South Brisbane campus on a casual basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, specialist diabetes education and clinical support within a leading multidisciplinary service, while offering flexible work that supports service continuity, staff wellbeing, and excellent patient outcomes.
Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 + casual loading per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this specialist clinical role, you’ll provide expert diabetes nursing care and education while supporting service delivery across QDEC. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering advanced, evidence-based diabetes education and clinical care to patients and families
- Supporting coordination of care within a multidisciplinary endocrine and diabetes team
- Providing clinical expertise to support service capacity during planned and unplanned leave
- Promoting safe, patient-centred care aligned with professional standards and best practice
- Supporting continuity of care while reducing fatigue and workload pressures on permanent staff
- Contributing to quality improvement, clinical governance, and professional practice standards
About you
You are a confident and experienced Diabetes Nurse Educator who brings specialist knowledge, clinical leadership, and a collaborative approach to care. You will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Postgraduate certification in Diabetes Education (essential)
- Demonstrated experience working as a Diabetes Nurse Educator in an acute or specialist setting
- Strong clinical assessment, education, and patient engagement skills
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
