About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for a compassionate Assistant in Nursing to join the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) at Mater Mothers’ Hospital, South Brisbane, in a full-time, permanent position.
This role plays a vital part in supporting our neonatal nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality, family-centred care to some of Queensland’s most vulnerable patients. You’ll be joining a highly specialised, supportive team where your contribution genuinely makes a difference to patient experience and team sustainability.
Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15.900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Working under the direction of Registered Nurses and Midwives, you will provide essential support to ensure the smooth running of the unit and high standards of care.
- Assist with delegated aspects of indirect patient care in line with your scope and competence
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised clinical environment in line with infection control standards
- Undertake service activities including stock maintenance, equipment cleaning and environmental checks
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care
- Contribute positively to teamwork, patient experience and continuous improvement within the unit
About you
You are a caring, reliable and team-focused professional who understands the importance of safety, compassion and collaboration in a critical care environment.
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of Registered Nurses/Midwives
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient- and family-centred care
- Understanding of, and commitment to, infection control and safety standards
- A positive, flexible approach and willingness to support team needs in a dynamic clinical setting
- Alignment with Mater’s values, behavioural standards and commitment to zero harm
