Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a variety of Senior Administration Officer positions available in permanent, part-time, full-time, and casual roles. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency, and medical and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. 

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Administration Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of your ward or unit. Your work will focus on providing high-quality administrative support that enables your team to deliver exceptional patient and consumer experiences.  

This role includes:

  • Perform senior administrative duties, including reception, patient admissions and discharges, course enrolments, banking reconciliation, inventory management, and scheduling maintenance. 
  • Support recruitment, orientation, and development of team members, and assist with performance oversight as required. 
  • Coordinate meetings and events, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items. 
  • Assist with projects, system administration, and operational initiatives to improve efficiency and service delivery. 
  • Support compliance, risk management, and workplace health and safety requirements. 
  • Contribute to operational decision-making, resource planning, and budget management to support strong financial outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to support the strategic goals of Mater and ensure a seamless service experience for patients and staff. 

About you

  • Experience in senior administrative or business support roles, ideally within healthcare or a similar service-focused environment. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Health Information Systems or equivalent. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in all tasks. 
  • A collaborative mindset, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
