About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has exciting opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses to become part of our Intensive Care Unit team. We offer permanent part-time roles with flexible FTE options (0.6–0.8), supporting work–life balance. Applicants must be available to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including early, late, night, and weekend shifts.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a specialist critical care service located at the Pimlico campus, providing high-level care for patients with life‑threatening or complex medical and surgical conditions. The unit is part of Mater’s statewide critical care network and delivers 24/7 intensive care supported by advanced monitoring technology and a multidisciplinary clinical team. The level 6 ICU comprises 10 dedicated intensive care beds and supports patients following major surgery, acute illness, trauma, and organ dysfunction.

Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit
  • Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Working with and supporting colleagues within a highly effective skilled team environment,
  • Demonstrating clinical skills and knowledge in the care of surgical patients

About you

To be successful in your application, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ ICU hospital experience (desirable)
  • Hold or willingness to complete an ICU Transition Support Program
  • Ability to work a flexible rotating roster consisting of 12-hour shifts
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing is desirable
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care and outcomes
  • Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
