Due to an internal promotion an exciting opportunity has become available at Mater Education for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse or Clinical Facilitator to take the next step in their career in joining the Mater Education team as Clinical Facilitator - Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).

This role is offered as a permanent part-time position, working 38 hours per fortnight.  

As the successful candidate, you will enjoy being part of the committed and dedicated team of Mater Education, working within the Perioperative Education Team to enhance clinical practice across PACU. You will promote and implement best practice / evidence based practice; promote critical thinking and clinical problem solving; and consistency in care delivery within a practice development and robust education model.

Working as a member of Mater’s Education team, you will collaboratively provide clinical education and support to all members of the multi-disciplinary team across Mater's clinical and non-clinical teams. 

Salary: $44.08 (Registered Nurse Level 2) per hour plus superannuation.

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Facilitator, you will be responsible for:

  • Wide and diverse co-ordination, provision of practice development and clinical education to all staff;
  • Providing clinical bedside teaching and education direction to align clinicians with best practice models, and promote consistency in care delivery across multi-disciplinary groups; 
  • Providing and promoting clinical expertise and clinical leadership;
  • Role modelling exceptional clinical care and high levels of inter-professional communication and collaboration; and
  • Facilitating the implementation of new policies, national standards and evidence-based models of care.

About you

To be considered for this position, it is essential you will have:

  • Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 3 years recent PACU clinical experience
  • Demonstrated experience in preceptorship and clinical facilitation and/or training and/or education
  • High level communication and clinical problem solving skills
  • Sound understanding of risk and quality management frameworks, processes and research
  • Strong focus on professional development of self and others
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), or a willingness to complete this qualification
  • Post graduate qualification in Nursing (Perioperative/PACU/Anaesthetics or Education) or working towards is desirable.

If more hours are what you need, in addition to your Clinical Facilitator position there may be potential to work additional clinical hours as a Registered Nurse in your area of choice (PACU, Anaesthetics, Scrub/Scout).
