About the role

Mater Allied Health currently has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join the team on a part-time 12 month fixed term contract, 38 hours per fortnight.

We are seeking a Social Worker who has experience in obstetrics, women’s health and newborn services.

You will be joining a welcoming, friendly and professional team providing Social Work services across the Mothers, Babies and Women's Health clinical stream and will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in both public and private settings. The primary caseload will be working with the Refugee population both in the hospital and in an outreach clinic. From time to time you may also be required to work across different clinical streams within the organisation.

Salary range: $53.85 - $57.92 (Health Practitioner Level 4) per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing

  • Completion of psychosocial assessments and timely and appropriate social work interventions
  • Referral and liaison with other healthcare services, government and community agencies
  • Advocacy to promote and address the needs of patients, families and carers
  • Participating in the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the social work department
  • Working co-operatively and effectively with patients, families and carers, and as a member of a multidisciplinary and social work team

About you

The successful candidates will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work that provide eligibility for membership the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in social work in obstetrics, women’s health and newborn services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with cultural diversity.

Current membership and CPE accreditation with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) will be highly regarded.
