About the role

The Mater Hospital Townsville Intensive Care Unit is looking for a passionate Registered Nurse to join the team. This role can be offered on a Permanent Part Time or Full-Time basis.

We have a friendly and skilled team that excels in caring for a variety of patient groups including complex surgical patients, complex cardiothoracic cases, neurosurgical and neurological conditions, life-threatening medical conditions, critically ill obstetric patients and critically ill oncology/haematology patients.

Salary range: $40.27-$51.74 (Registered Nurse Level 1) per hour plus superannuation & access to salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in ICU, you will have a strong patient-service focus, demonstrated commitment to continued service improvement, willingness to facilitate and encourage cohesive, positive professional relationships and be required to demonstrate problem-solving skills to improve patient care outcomes relevant to the ward.

 You will work closely with the nursing team of CN and RNs to seamlessly integrate to this friendly and professional team.  This challenging and rewarding position will utilise your abilities and see you become a valued member of the team.

 About you

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ ICU hospital experience (desirable)
  • Completed or committed to completing an ICU Transition Support Program (desirable)
  • Committed to participate in the transition program
  • Ability to work a flexible rotating roster consisting of 12-hour shifts
  • Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast paced environment
