Laparoscopic Fellow

Apply now Job no: 500493
Work type: Fixed Term
Location: South Brisbane
Categories: Medical Officers

About the role:

Mater Health Services and Eve Health, in conjunction with AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society), are offering a unique training opportunity for a Fellow in Laparoscopic Gynaecological surgery. Recognising the limited opportunities for Senior Registrars to develop advanced laparoscopic skills we are offering a position commencing in February 2025 for one exceptionally talented new Fellow to join our service. This position is fully accredited by AGES as a Fellow in Laparoscopic Gynaecological Surgery.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

This role provides a new Fellow the opportunities to further develop their laparoscopic skills in both a public and private setting, to be actively involved in Australia’s premier gynaecological surgical simulation curriculum, to practice independently as a Specialist supported by senior colleagues, and to also be able to maintain general and high-risk obstetric skills with rostered Birth Suite sessions in the largest women’s health service in the country.  The position would ideally suit a final year trainee or new Fellow with skills and interest in a career in minimal access surgery.  The role would provide an excellent foundation to a public, private or mixed public-private career path.

This position offers excellent experience in minimal access and Robotic surgery, working with AGES accredited training supervisors in advanced endoscopic surgery.  The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the teaching of Registrars, residents and students, and contribute to the promotion of the Mater and Eve Health as Centres of Excellence through ongoing professional development, simulation teaching and training, mentoring of colleagues, quality audit and research.

The Fellow will work closely with sub-specialist laparoscopic surgeons with interests in endometriosis, leiomyoma, fertility and persistent pelvic pain. Participation in the multidisciplinary Mater Persistent Pelvic Pain clinic enables candidates to work alongside pain specialists, gynaecologists and allied health professionals with particular expertise in the management of this condition.

About you

New Fellows (who have FRANZCOG, or its equivalent, or who are expected to attain FRANZCOG in early 2025) and final year trainees are encouraged to apply.

This is an exceptional opportunity offering an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the increased responsibilities of this role.

Applicants will need to be eligible for registration with AHPRA and the Medical Board of Australia.

It should be noted that full remuneration for this position also requires the candidate to be eligible for Medicare billing should this not be the case the remuneration package will be significantly reduced.
