About the role

Clarence Street is seeking a qualified and experienced Psychologist to join on a fixed-term basis until the 30th of June 2025, on a part-time capacity of 23 hours per week.

As part of the Mater Young Adult Service - Clarence Street is a contemporary, evidence-based service providing high-quality Alcohol and other Drugs service guided by the principles of harm minimisation.  In addition to being a part of the Clarence Street community outreach team, you will be part of the broader Clarence Street service, which offers a range of programs to young people and their families.

Salary range: $60.01 - $64.54 (HP4) per hour plus superannuation and access to salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

You will provide clinical psychology and broader psychosocial interventions to young people (aged 13-25) experiencing problematic substance use. In this role, you will be part of an experienced multidisciplinary team providing onsite and community outreach support to vulnerable young people in the greater Brisbane area. 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in providing psychology and broader psychosocial interventions to young people experiencing problematic AOD use.
  • Provide high-level clinical assessments and treatments for a range of clinical issues for young people engaging in treatment for substance use.
  • Experience in providing clinical practice supervision to less experienced practitioners to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards specifically around mental health and AOD presentations.
  • Ensure data entry, reporting, and all written communication are completed in a timely manner and meets organisational and psychology standards.
  • Further, develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development and research activities.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and friendly environment and work respectfully with young people and their families, other supports and colleagues.
  • Actively participate in the multidisciplinary team, working cooperatively and effectively with the young person and within the context of family and other social systems.
  • Identifies, reports, responds to and rectifies workplace health and safety (WHS) concerns from within its own reporting structure.

Qualifications  - Clinical Psychology

Mandatory

  • Psychology general registration via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Psychology Board of Australia Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology or eligibility for Endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
  • Eligibility for accreditation or current Board-approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Highly Desirable

  • Relevant postgraduate training and/or qualification in addiction studies

Other Requirements

  • The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 exempts registered health practitioners – including Medical Practitioners, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Enrolled  & Registered Nurses – from a requirement for a ‘Working with Children Check’ (Blue Card) to be employed in this service. A current Blue Card is required for all other staff members.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal history check.
  • Queensland C Class driver’s licence is required.
  • Completion of First Aid Training (Emergency Care Course, St John’s Ambulance is the minimum requirement)
  • This position will require you to be part of an on-call roster providing after-hours support for residential services.
