About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking passionate Registered Midwives to join our Maternity Services team, with opportunities available across Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) and the Maternity Inpatient Unit (IPU).
Opening in early 2026, Mater Hospital Springfield marks a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare as Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years. This state-of-the-art, 174-bed facility will provide maternity, ICU, emergency and surgical services to the rapidly growing Greater Springfield community.
About the role
As a Registered Midwife within our Maternity Services, you will deliver high‑quality, woman‑centred care across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal settings, working within either continuity of care models (MGP) or inpatient maternity services.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing comprehensive, safe and evidence‑based midwifery care
Advocating for women and families and supporting informed decision‑making
Delivering care that addresses physical, emotional and psychosocial needs
Collaborating within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Promoting patient safety, quality improvement and service excellence
Supporting professional development, including mentoring less experienced staff
Maintaining professional, ethical and accountable practice at all times
Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
A Bachelor of Midwifery or combined Nursing/Midwifery qualification
Demonstrated clinical competence in maternity care (antenatal, intrapartum and/or postnatal)
Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
A commitment to woman‑centred care and contemporary midwifery practice
Experience in continuity of midwifery care models and/or inpatient maternity services will be highly regarded.
