Patient Services Officer

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Services Officer to join our busy Patient Services Department. This is a Casual opportunity with up to 38 hours of work per week available for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is flexible with their working hours. Shift times range from 545am through to 10pm.

The Patient Services teams are accountable for the end-to-end patient journey. These key functions include theatre bookings/administration, patient registration, admissions and customer experience, ward reception, health records, patient billings, public contracts and sessional suites. 

Salary range: $28.68 - $33.28 per hour plus superannuation and NFP salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

Tasks may include but are not limited to;

  • Patient admission, discharges and transfers
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team environment and is responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely provision of a range of administrative services.
  • Structure clinics for outpatient appointments
  • Maintain effective relationship with consultants
  • Medical record preparation, tracking, filing and maintenance
  • Assisting with patient billing
  • Wayfinding and general enquiries.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated ability to work methodically with speed, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail in a time-pressured environment.
  • Proven experience working in an administrative role within a medical or hospital environment or extensive data entry experience.
  • Sound computer literacy and numeracy skills, well-developed keyboard skills, and familiarity with patient administration systems.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work under the direction of others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
