What you’ll be doing

Mater Mother’s Hospital is seeking a talented and enthusiastic 5’th or 6’th year trainee for the role of Flying Obstetrics & Gynaecology Advanced Trainee. This role will include a minimum of 20 weeks in the Mater’s FOG service which includes gynaecology clinics and operating across 13 different sites in rural and regional Queensland.  The FOG registrar role is based in Roma Monday-Friday and time is spent flying with the FOG team (FOG consultant, FOG Anaesthetists and clinical nurse co-ordinator) to peripheral centres on a rotational basis.  Outpatient clinics for general gynaecology and colposcopy occur most days.  Operating lists comprising a mixture of major and minor gynaecological procedures occur approximately once-twice a week.  This position provides ample opportunity for independent surgical practice, with consultant back-up and oversight. The FOG registrar will be based in Roma approximately 1 in 2-3 weeks during the FOG term (therefore 7-10 weeks during the 20-week FOG term). All flights and accommodation are provided.  This role provides a unique and rewarding registrar experience with the opportunity to be part of the team providing this iconic service.  When working in Brisbane at the Mater Mother’s Hospital, there will be an opportunity for rotations through differing aspects of tertiary-level antenatal and intrapartum care, as well as training in general gynaecology.  Mater Mothers Hospitals have a dynamic education, audit and research program and the successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in these activities.
