About the role

Mater Health Services Food Services team is currently seeking experienced hospitality workers to join their team on a permanent, part-time and casual basis. This role provide opportunity to work across our South Brisbane campus.

The Food Services team are responsible for providing highest standards of service to our patients and service partners, this is a fast-paced environment best suited to candidates with a strong team focus who enjoy work that is diverse and requires the prioritisation of tasks.

What you’ll be doing

As the Food Service Assistant duties include serving meals and beverages to patients, following meal reports and work schedules, tray assembly according to meal requests, cleaning and washing up responsibilities and when required support the Café team with meal preparation and coffee making.

Dining Host: This position is responsible for the delivery of food and trays to all wards and collection of trays from all wards. This role requires walking and pushing trolleys. 

Pantry Hand: This position is responsible for the ordering & delivery of department & patients pantries. 7 Department wards & 6 patient wards. The position is constant & involves a lot of walking & lighting no more than 5kilos.

Pot Wash: It is their duty to clean all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, serving dishes, as well as kitchen machinery, floors, walls, fridges, shelving, and other areas in the kitchen, storerooms, and food preparation areas on a daily basis.

Chef/Cook: Reporting to the Kitchen Supervisor, this important role will see you providing high volume meals for our patients and staff as a part of a very busy environment and a member of a supportive team.

Plating Line: Food plating involves the art of arranging and garnishing food and trays prior to delivery. 

About you

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Food Handlers Certificate – or willing to obtain one
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food services
  • An understanding of Infection Control Guidelines and willingness to learn
  • Previous experience working in a hospital environment would be an advantage
  • The right to work in Australia
