Clinical Nurse – Medical Unit

About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville are currently seeking experienced Clinical Nurses to join our medical unit.

The Medical Unit offers a variety of opportunities to care for patients that have specialised care needs. This includes rehabilitation, oncology, hematology, and general medicine. The Medical Unit is a supportive team of Nurses, Doctors and Allied Health staff who together care for patients, carers and family whilst they are at Mater hospital.

Salary range: Salary range: $52.63 - $56.38 (Registered Nurse Level 2) per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging up to $15,900. 

What you’ll be doing

As a valued member of the team you will:

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and the continuum of care
  • Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of emergency procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Lead, participate and collaborate with other key stakeholders in the design and implementation of continuous improvement activities and models of care for enhanced service provision.
  • Liaise with other senior nursing roles and multidisciplinary teams to ensure strong communication networks are maintained.
  • Identify and actively communicate future issues and new directions for the service.
  • Escalate issues impacting on clinical practice and care delivery.
  • Establishes and promotes effective model of care with family that ensure continuity of care.
  • Manages ethical dilemmas in a supportive, collaborative manner. Develop and participates in Palliative Care Clinics Participates in family meetings.

 About you

As the successful candidate you will have: 

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Post graduate qualification in cancer nursing (or working towards)
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in a medical ward, with advanced clinical competency and experience
  • You will have strong leadership ability and experience, as well as excellent time management skills
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Demonstrated high level of communication (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate with your team as an effective senior leader
