Mater Foundation are looking for a Director of People and Culture to join the team! This newly created, key leadership position will be a permanent, full-time role will be based at our Newstead campus. Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

As the Director of People & Culture, you will work closely the Mater Foundation CEO and our Human Resources team, collaborating with the Director of Business Partnering and Organisational Development. Together, you will provide leadership, support, and guidance to our team members, helping them achieve their professional aspirations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising the CEO and leadership team on strategies, trends, and issues related to leading people in a high-performance environment.
  • Partnering with the leadership team to attract, onboard, retain, and engage our team members, aligning with our People and Learning policies and processes.
  • Coaching business leaders on performance management, compensation, recruitment practices, and decision-making.
  • Providing advice and guidance to people managers for effective coaching conversations and fostering a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • Developing strategies to celebrate the success of our team members and coordinating team development programs.
  • Analysing our People and Culture initiatives, consolidating feedback and trends, and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Overseeing the annual engagement survey and coordinating action planning.
  • Supporting and coordinating the annual performance review process.
  • Providing regular reporting and insights from people metrics to improve organisational performance.
  • Representing Mater Foundation in Mater-wide people management initiatives.
  • Managing People related matters in collaboration with Mater Human Resources, including employment contracts, payroll queries, workplace investigations, and policies and procedures.
  • Acting as the first point of escalation for employee enquiries and issues, ensuring effective resolution.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staying informed about market trends, talent acquisition strategies, and industry best practices.

 About you

To be successful in this role, you should have a relevant qualification in Human Resources or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. You should possess excellent organisational and time management skills, demonstrate resilience and a can-do attitude, and have a high level of initiative and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and HR databases is required, as well as a strong understanding of Australian employment processes. Your empathetic skills, self-motivation, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information will also be crucial.
