Mater Private Hospital Townsville are seeking dynamic and adaptable Clinical Nurse to join the team within our Day Surgery Unit. The successful candidate will be offered Permanent Part Time employment at 0.8FTE.

Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 (RN level 2) per hour plus superannuation and NFP salary packaging up to $15,900

About Mater Hospital Townsville - Hyde Park Campus

Offers a diverse range of medical services tailored to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Among its offerings are day surgical procedures covering various specialties such as dental, maxillofacial surgery, gynaecology, plastics/reconstructive surgery, urology, minor general surgery and more.

We also provide renal dialysis services, with a dedicated team of nephrologists, vascular surgeons, registered nurses, dietitians, and allied health professionals working together to support patients with kidney failure. The hospital specializes in all aspects of haemodialysis, including new starts, chronic maintenance, and acute dialysis. Furthermore our Mater Mothers maternity services and women services are based at our Hyde Park campus.

What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Be a role-model in all aspects of leadership and promote a positive team culture within the unit
  • Leadership and coordination of the Day Surgery unit
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Provision and coordination of care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care
  • Monitoring outcomes and initiating/advocating changes to processes and practices
  • Participating in the review, development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and clinical protocols
  • Participates and promotes clinical meetings in a multidisciplinary setting

About you

As the successful candidate for this role, you must be an experienced Day Surgery Nurse with experience across all specialties including Endoscopy. The successful applicant will also provide support and assistance to the Perioperative Services Manager to help ensure the smooth running of the Perioperative Department. 

To be successful in your application you will have:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or clinical experience in relevant fields of nursing will be highly regarded.
  • Have knowledge and experience of Day Surgery and Endoscopy requirements and standards
  • Prior comparable experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a health care environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement process, coupled with the proven ability to initiate, coordinate and evaluate quality improvement measures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and Clinical Risk policies are also of value.
