About the role
Mater Clarence Street are currently seeking applications from experienced youth workers to join the team as a Drug and Alcohol Outreach Worker on a full-time, maximum term contract until 30 June 2025.
Mater Clarence Street is a high quality, multidisciplinary youth alcohol and drug treatment service. As a member of an enthusiastic and motivated team this position will aim to minimise the harmful effects of substance use to vulnerable young people.
Salary range: $35.98 - $49.86 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will deliver quality Youth Drug and Alcohol clinical services to young people. As a member of a small team the Outreach worker provides direct activities, crisis intervention, assessment, case work and case management services and ongoing support to minimise the harm of substance use to young people.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting intake assessments, brief intervention, case work and treatment within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Implement a range of modalities including but not limited to intensive individual casework, intake assessments, brief interventions, group work, street outreach and collaboration with other agencies.
- Provide counselling and support to young people that is consistent with a framework of a harm minimisation perspective including relapse prevention and strength-based approaches.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills, qualifications and experience:
- Minimum Diploma or Certificate IV qualification preferably in Alcohol and Other Drugs / Youth Work/Community Services, or other human services qualification
- Demonstrated experience in providing youth AOD clinical interventions
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team, establish priorities, exercise initiative and deliver outputs within agreed timeframes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability and experience in establishing and developing key relationships with stakeholders
- Willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
This position will require you be part of an on-call roster providing after hours support for Clarence Street residential services.
