About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is currently seeking suitably qualified Career Medical Officers who are passionate about providing high‑quality care and are available to work within our Intensive Care Unit. Positions are available on a permanent part‑time, permanent full‑time, or casual basis. These opportunities will place you with our dynamic Intensivist-led multidisciplinary team, managing critically ill patients in a Level 6, ten bed tertiary ICU. This role would suit anaesthetics/ICU or ED trained registrar’s looking for a well-supported experience in a friendly, patient focused ICU in beautiful North Queensland. The ICU operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the Career Medical Officers rostered on for day shifts of 11 hours long and night shifts of 14 hours long.
Salary range: $220,000 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
About you
- Registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possesses a current PLS qualification or is willing to obtain one.
- A minimum of three years’ post‑graduate clinical experience, including preferably six months in anaesthetics, as well as at least six months in ICU and/or Emergency Medicine.
- Proficient in airway management, including bag–valve–mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation, and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion.
- Demonstrated competency in the placement of arterial lines and central venous catheters.
To be eligible for employment in this role you must be one of the following:
- An Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- A New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport
- A citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia
