About the role
Catherine’s House are seeking a motivated and experienced perinatal psychologist in a permanent, part-time capacity for 15 hours per week.
The outpatient Perinatal Mental Health Services includes the Mater Perinatal Psychology Team, Families in Mind, the Together in Mind group program and an outpatient Consultant Psychiatrist Clinic. These combined services support mothers and families during the perinatal and postnatal period and referral reasons may include antenatal/postnatal anxiety, birth trauma, adjustment to parenting, emotional distress and low mood during the perinatal period. The Psychologist will provide clinical care across the perinatal continuum (antenatal, NICU and postnatal in the Mater Parenting Support Centre) and work collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work with various professionals across Mater Health and requires a well-developed interpersonal, problem solving and customer focused skillset.
Salary range: $43.68 - $60.43 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a member of the Psychology team, you will provide patient centred, evidence based clinical care to perinatal patients.

Your role will also involve but not limited to:
- Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focussed outcomes
- Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision.
- Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, students, and support staff in the delivery of clinical services
- Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams.
- Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
- Actively participate in translating research into practice
- Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care
About you
Essential Qualifications
- General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) / Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in Clinical or Educational & Developmental Psychology.
- Working towards or attained PsyBA approved supervisor.
- Working towards or attained PsyBA area of practice endorsement in Clinical or Educational & Developmental Psychology
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in provision of Psychology services, ideally in a health setting and perinatal mental health.
- Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ablity to work co-operatively with profession and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
- Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills to identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
