About the role
Mater Pathology's Haematology Department presents an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated scientist with general Haematology experience including at least 3 years competency in morphology. We are currently seeking an individual to join our dynamic team at our South Brisbane campus. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule of 34.25 hours per week, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
While the position is as a continuous shift worker with a roster covering day, evening and overnight shifts, consideration for a weighting towards after-hour shifts will be considered if preferred by the successful applicant. Training will be contacted during routine day shifts.
In this role, you will apply independent scientific judgement and knowledge of quality control processes in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the accurate and timely verification and validation of test results across Haematology including coagulation.
Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Work cooperatively and communicate effectively, with Pathology staff and with internal and external clients, including clinicians.
- Have well developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently when required.
- Impart and learn scientific knowledge and expertise through active learning by contributing to Laboratory meetings and engaging in professional development activities.
- Utilise scientific and professional judgement in decision making
- Participate in the quality assurance processes expected within a Haematolgoy Laboratory, including external quality assurance programs.
About you
- A Bachelor of Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification and having completed subjects in advanced Haematology.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Haematology laboratory with experience in complex morphology including in the areas of haematological oncology and neonatology.
- Analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to critically evaluate results.
