About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Registered Nurse, to take the next step in their career to step up into a Clinical Nurse joining the Cancer Care Service.  You will be working within Day Oncology, a part of the Redlands Mater Cancer Care Centre. The unit operates from Monday- Friday, opening at 8:30am and closing at 5:30pm, with discussion around hours of work welcome. The successful candidates will secure Permanent Part-Time employment working 32 hours a week.

Mater Redland Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) aims to offer services to patients within a modern state-of-the-art facility which provides individually personalised, comprehensive and compassionate care. The MCCC includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy. 

 Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour (Registered Nurse Level 2) plus superannuation access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

 What you'll be doing

This role will see your responsibilities in assisting and supporting Nurse Unit Manager and nursing team, in agreed leadership and clinical functions within a specified area, including operational management functions of human and material resources relevant to the speciality. As a Clinical Nurse you are also required to initiate problem solving skills, participate in education and staff development, contribute strongly to the quality/accreditation process and ultimately aim at improving patient care outcomes relevant to their clinical area. 

 About you

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Minimum 3 years current RN experience in an Oncology/Haematology setting
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in Day oncology outpatient setting
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and share knowledge with more junior experienced staff
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Post-graduate studies (completed or currently enrolled) highly advantageous
  • Previous Clinical Nurse experience preferred
